How answers are grounded

Getting Washington right matters more to us than sounding smart. Here's exactly how the FirstNest Guide keeps its answers honest.

Grounded in written, sourced guides

Every answer is built only from FirstNest's Washington guides and blog articles — content written against official sources (WSHFC, Washington RCWs, CFPB, county assessors). The Guide retrieves the relevant passages first, answers from them, and links them as Sources under every answer.

Rates come from live data, never memory

The Guide is not allowed to state a mortgage rate from its own training. Rate answers use live benchmark data (Freddie Mac PMMS via the St. Louis Fed) with the as-of date shown — and it will always tell you a benchmark is not a personal quote.

A guardrail blocks unverified numbers

Before an answer reaches you, an automatic check compares every specific figure in it against the retrieved sources. If a number can't be traced to a source, the answer is rewritten or held back entirely — we'd rather say less than say something wrong.

It says 'I don't know' — on purpose

If our guides don't cover your question, the Guide says so plainly and points you to the full guides library instead of guessing. Legal and tax specifics get referred to licensed Washington professionals.

Tell us when we're wrong

Every answer has a thumbs-up / thumbs-down. A thumbs-down (with your optional note) goes straight into a weekly review where we fix the underlying guide content — that feedback loop is how this gets more accurate every week.
